Sustainability

Reuse first - the greenest building is the one that already exists

Sustainability isn't an add-on at Brentor; it's built into our model. By converting and restoring existing buildings rather than demolishing and rebuilding, we retain the embodied carbon already locked into their structures, one of the most effective ways any developer can reduce their environmental impact. Every office we convert and every listed property we restore is a building saved, not a site cleared.

Making old buildings perform like new

Giving a building a new life means bringing its performance up to modern standards. Across our projects we upgrade insulation, glazing, heating, and ventilation, and specify energy-efficient systems and low-energy lighting as standard. The aim is simple: homes and workspaces that are comfortable to live in, affordable to run, and hold strong energy ratings for decades to come.

Building where infrastructure already exists

Our developments sit in established towns and cities across Southern England -  places with transport links, shops, and services already in place. That means no greenfield land lost, less reliance on cars, and new homes that strengthen existing communities rather than sprawling beyond them.

Responsible construction

We work with contractors and suppliers who share our standards, prioritising responsibly sourced materials, minimising construction waste, and reclaiming original features, timber, brick, and stonework wherever we can. On listed and heritage projects, careful repair and reuse isn't just good conservation; it's good environmental practice.

Committed for the long term

Because we retain many of our properties, we live with the choices we make, and that keeps our standards honest. As long-term owners, we continue to invest in the efficiency and upkeep of our buildings well after completion, improving their performance year on year. Sustainability, for us, isn't a target to hit once; it's how we look after our buildings, our residents, and the places we work in.

Our Goal

Our goal is to create living and working spaces that foster the well-being of people and communities and contribute to achieving our worldwide carbon neutrality commitments. Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors are formally integrated into our corporate and investment strategy.

In terms of sustainable development and investment, we have set targets for carbon neutrality and for improving the social impact of our practices on local people and communities. Lastly, we take the necessary measures internally to ensure that our actions reflect our convictions, which means motivating, training, and supporting our team; integrating sustainable considerations into our key operational processes; and accelerating our journey towards a greener future
